Consultation

Half an hour, and nobody is asked to book anything

Half an hour on your skin, your history and what is realistic — before anything else.

In order

Four things happen, and they happen in this order

The plan is the last of the four rather than the first, which is the whole difference between a consultation and a sales appointment.

What you want changed

In your words rather than a treatment name. Half the time the thing bothering you has a simpler answer than the one you came in asking for.

What your skin will tolerate

Skin type, sun habits, medication, pregnancy, past reactions. This is the half of the conversation that rules things out, and it is the reason the plan is worth having.

A patch test, where one is needed

Laser and peels are tested on a small area and left for at least 24 hours. It is not a formality — it is what stops a first session going wrong on your whole face.

A plan, in writing, with the cost

How many sessions, how far apart, what each one costs, what it will and will not do, and what has to happen at home between them.

Worth bringing

Four things that make the half hour useful

What you are already using

Photograph the back of the bottles rather than writing the names down. Actives, retinoids and acids all change what can be done and when.

Anything you take

Prescriptions, the pill, supplements, and anything for acne in the last year. Some rule a treatment out and some only move it.

What has gone wrong before

A reaction, a burn, pigmentation that arrived after a treatment. This is the most useful thing you can bring and the thing people most often leave out.

A bare face, if you can

Not essential — makeup comes off here. But skin that has not been under foundation all day is easier to read.

The patch test

The twenty-four hours that are not negotiable

Laser and peels are tested on a coin of skin somewhere it will not show, and then left alone for at least a day. It is the only way to find out how your skin answers before the answer is on your face.

It means a first treatment is two visits rather than one. Any clinic offering to do both in an afternoon is skipping the part that protects you.

Times and courses shown here are the usual shape of each treatment. Yours is set at consultation, after a patch test where one is needed — including what it will cost.

By appointment

Send a message and we will find you a time

Appointments are arranged by message rather than through a diary on this page, so the time you are given is one that is genuinely free.
